Turmeric is a root of the Curcuma longa plant and has a yellow/orange color to it. It is traditionally used to make curry and give mustard it’s color, but did you know about it’s amazing health benefits?

It is now believed that most chronic diseases, like heart attacks, cancer, type 2 diabetes and stroke, amongst others, start because of inflammation. Good news….Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory. It is also an anti-oxidant, digestive aid, contains anti-aging components for healthy skin, promotes eye health, and is helpful in keeping cholesterol levels in normal ranges. Some studies also show it helps with anxiety and depression. 

Curcumin is the ingredient found in turmeric that gives it it’s amazing health benefits. It has been used for over 4000 years as an herbal medicine in Indian Ayurvedic and Chinese cultures. 
With all these remarkable health benefits, it is hard to find a reason not to consider adding Turmeric to your diet! As always, check with your doctor if you are taking any medications that may interact in some way;-) Turmeric can be used in cooking or taken as a supplement!
